Hillside Project

How it started

The homeowners faced multiple challenges with their sloped property: steep terrain that was difficult to navigate, unutilized space, and no clear path to enjoy their magnificent mountain views. The bare hillside offered little functionality and posed erosion concerns, while the irregular grade made it seem impossible to create usable outdoor living spaces. They dreamed of a yard that could be both beautiful and functional for their family, but the topography seemed too challenging.

How it finished

The design incorporates elegant stone steps and retaining walls that naturally guide visitors through the landscape while solving the property's grade challenges. A stunning covered walkway with architectural metal arches and gas lanterns creates a dramatic entrance experience, leading to a resort-style pool area with fire features.

Natural stone walls in warm tones complement the home's architecture, while strategic lighting illuminates pathways and highlights architectural features. Carefully selected ornamental grasses, flowering perennials, and trees add movement and color while helping with erosion control. The finished space perfectly balances sophisticated entertainment areas with family-friendly features, all while maximizing the property's spectacular mountain views.
